Our story

Two Neighborhoods, One What Da Chick Experience

A neighborhood restaurant is more than a pin on a map. It is the place you remember when chicken and rice sound exactly right. For What Da Chick, the connection between Watertown and our coming-soon Somerville location begins with a focused idea: give Thai chicken rice its moment.

Roasted chicken with ginger rice and lime tamarind sauce

One idea, more than one way to eat it

Poached, crispy, spicy or roasted: the menu gives you several ways into the same comforting meal. The rice, soup and sauce are part of that choice. You can prefer a softer bite today and something crunchy next time without needing a completely different kind of restaurant.

That is the practical side of a focused menu. It makes comparing dishes easier. The menu guide looks at the differences in texture and sauce, while the full menu shows what the restaurant actually lists. We would rather help you find a favorite than tell you everyone should order the same plate.

Watertown has its own place in the story

At 1A Crawford Street in Watertown, the restaurant’s Thai chicken-and-rice focus is already part of the local food picture. The two external media features on our News page describe that location. Their original headlines and publication credits belong to the journalists who reported those stories.

We keep that coverage separate from restaurant-owned guides. A local planning article can help with a meal; it should not pretend to be an independent review. You can find the original Boston.com and Boston Globe links in the News press section and read their reporting at the source.

Somerville gets its own address, not borrowed details

The Somerville location is at 193 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02145 and is Coming Soon. Its branch page is a place for accurate updates. It does not borrow Watertown’s opening hours, telephone number or current pickup availability just to make the two pages look alike.

The shared brand is the connection; the operational details still belong to each restaurant. If you live or work closer to Somerville, keep an eye on that page before planning a visit. We will describe confirmed information as it becomes available rather than turning an upcoming address into a promise of service.

The sauce is part of your own meal

There is no need to make a plate look the same for everyone at the table. Compare a bite of chicken and rice before adding more sauce, then find the balance you enjoy. Sweet chili and lime tamarind belong to different dishes; a stronger seasoning does not automatically make an order better.

For a group, sharing can mean trying different chicken styles rather than taking identical plates. Keep allergies and preparation questions in the conversation, especially around sauces and broth. The restaurant can discuss the actual dishes; the article should not guess at dietary guarantees.

Same clear planning, whatever the gathering

Individual orders and group events need different next steps. Our ordering guide helps with location and pickup checks. The catering page collects the date, guest count and platter choices for a larger gathering, with seven-day notice and a $500 food minimum before taxes and fees.

Whether your next plan is one plate or a shared spread, keep the address and service status clear. That leaves more attention for the enjoyable part: the meal and the people around it. Two neighborhoods can share one brand without pretending their schedules and day-to-day details are identical.
